This is the cover of the first volume and third issue of the Red Bird Magazine (赤い鳥) , titled Moonrise (月の出). It was published in September 1919. The cover art was made by Yoshio Shimizu, a western style painter and children's illustrator. He designed and created the cover art for 163 of Red Bird Magazine's 196 issues.

Red Bird Magazine was a Japanese children's literary magazine founded by Miekichi Suzuki that ran from 1919 to 1936 in Tokyo, Japan. It included original stories, foreign stories translated into Japanese, children's songs, and essays and stories that children would submit to the publication.
